Multi 2D aggregation,is the process of establishing and recording hierarchical relationships between multiple levels of packaging containers (from individual units to cartons, cases, and pallets) by using 2D barcodes. This process links the unique identifiers (serial numbers) encoded in the 2D barcodes on each container to create a digital representation of the physical packaging hierarchy.

Serialization with 2D Barcodes

Each saleable unit of a pharmaceutical product is marked with a unique serial number encoded in a 2D barcode.

Hierarchical Aggregation Using 2D Barcodes

Aggregation Level 1

2D barcodes on individual units are scanned and linked to the 2D barcode on the carton.

Aggregation Level 2

2D barcodes on the cartons are scanned and linked to the 2D barcode on the case.

Aggregation Level 3

2D barcodes on the cases are scanned and linked to the 2D barcode on the pallet.

Data Recording and Traceability

The data captured from scanning the 2D barcodes at each level is stored in a database. This creates a traceable pathway, showing the relationship between individual units and their higher-level packaging.
